Why Open Graph tags matter
Without Open Graph tags, platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn guess at a title, description and thumbnail — often picking the wrong image or truncating text oddly. Setting these tags explicitly gives you control over how a link looks when it's shared.
og: tags vs Twitter Card tags
Open Graph (og:) tags are the shared standard most platforms read, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Discord. Twitter/X has its own twitter: tags but falls back to your Open Graph tags for any fields it doesn't have its own version of — which is why this generator produces both sets together rather than treating them as separate tasks.
What image size should I use for og:image?
1200×630px is the safe default for most platforms and produces a sharp large-image card without cropping issues.
Why isn't my updated og:image showing up when I share the link?
Most platforms cache the preview the first time a URL is shared. Use Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector to force a re-scrape after updating your tags.
